At last #licenses4all in California

Today, the California Department of Motor Vehicles announced that from January 2 through February 20 of this year, 110,000 undocumented Californians had earned drivers' licenses under AB 60, the state's Safe and Responsible Driver Act.

In response to this development, the Drive California Coalition issued the following statement:

In every corner of California, AB 60 is changing lives and opening new doors to opportunity. Undocumented community members fought for two decades to make this law a reality and have worked diligently to study, prepare, and succeed.

We will continue to strive for the most inclusive and just implementation of this vital law with maximum protections for all community members.

This milestone comes as the community faces an unjust delay in the implementation of the President's new deportation relief programs. May the beautiful burst of enthusiasm for licenses in California inspire other states to prioritize inclusivity and public safety for all, instead of being swept up by irrational anti-immigrant sentiments.
