LOS ANGELES — Today the three California ACLU affiliates launched a hard-hitting new online ad campaign, featuring actress Rosario Dawson, urging California Republican House members Paul Cook (CA-08), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Devin Nunes (CA-22), Ed Royce (CA-39) and Mimi Walters (CA-45) to support a clean Dream Act by the end of 2017. The five representatives are key votes and have not yet announced support for the bipartisan legislation to protect Dreamers from deportation.
The powerful ads show a mother driving with her kids when ICE agents arrest her and tear her away from her kids. The ads feature actor, activist, and co-founder of Voto Latino Rosario Dawson doing the voice over.

This is the third ad the ACLU has released as part of the #CAisMyHome campaign: http://caismyhome.org/.
Jennie Pasquarella, director of Immigrants' Rights at the ACLU of Southern California, said,
“Through their inaction these California representatives are saying that they support permanently ripping parents away from children. Their inaction is senseless, heartless, and only explained by racist ideologies that have no place in California. Time is running out. History will judge where these representatives stand. Will they stand with the interests of their constituents and communities or will they stand on the side of hate, bigotry and family separation? The fate of hundreds of thousands of families, like those represented in our ads, rests in their hands.”
The ACLU, and their members, will also be taking part in a national day of action on Wednesday to demand Congress pass the Dream Act.
