Amanda Young (she/her)

Legal Fellow

Amanda Young is a legal fellow at the ACLU of Northern California, where she supports the department’s litigation, policy, and advocacy matters. 

Prior to joining ACLU NorCal, Amanda interned for the Juvenile Unit of the Alameda County Public Defender’s Office and the Family Defense Practice of Brooklyn Defender Services. She also participated in the East Bay Community Law Center’s Clean Slate Clinic and did a field placement with Pregnancy Justice. 

Amanda is a graduate of UC Berkeley School of Law, where she was a public interest scholar, a board member of the California Law Review and the Asian Pacific Law Students Association, and a senior fellow with the Academic Skills Program.

Before law school, Amanda was an organizer & program associate at ACLU NorCal, supporting the Organizing Department’s community engagement programs and trainings, and developing grassroots and policy campaigns with the Gender, Sexuality, and Reproductive Justice Program. She has also worked in government healthcare operations and as a reproductive health case manager. 

Amanda received her B.A. in public policy from Duke University. In her free time, she enjoys trail running, hiking with her dog, and baking.
